Radon Matters: Overview

Levels across the UK have been mapped by the Public Health England (PHE, now UK Health Security Agency UKHSA). UKHSA have recommended levels in the home that should be reduced. At work there are Legal limit that must be reduced.
In addition to work on Nuclear Licensed Sites (e.g. Nuclear Power Stations), we have supported radon monitoring for schools, councils and supports a very large housing facilities company covering the UK.
RPmatters can provide support to companies and individuals.

  • Attend site/review drawings to identify monitoring locations

  • Produce outline radon risk assessment and monitoring scheme

  • Where practicable provide information to workers

  • Attend site and install passive radon detectors (recommended 3 months)

  • Attend site and retrieve detectors

  • Prepare report on results including recommendations of mitigation where necessary.    

  • Write the Radon Policy, Procedures and Risk Assessment, based on the results.
